I have been a visual artist for some years.
Though I studied English Literature at university, I guess I would consider myself an Outsider Artist
in that I am self-taught in art.
I admire artists such as Paul Klee, Henri Matisse, and Marc Chagall who retained a sense of childlike
wonder all their lives, and yet were sophisticated somehow as well.
I paint what I really love, and what made me happy, and what still makes me happy. The toy that is
called a Paper Doll is something that obsessed me when I was young: the colours, the shapes, the fun of it.
When you see the world for the first time, no one tells you what is a good visual shape and a bad
visual shape.
I also loved Shell gasoline station signs, Sunny Boy Raisin boxes, Pom Bakery trucks, and the small
black telephones that department stores added to their full pages ads to let you know home delivery by telephone was available.
These loves mingle in me when I am making a picture, and that is what all visual artists are, picture
makers.
I never thought to make a living from what I love, and for several years have made a living selling
the work of others on the Internet. I have learned a lot from that experience, and now hope to present my own art to
the Internet public.
My original paintings in oil on canvas may take several weeks or several months to produce, and are
priced accordingly. I hope to have a full range of products, including lower priced giclee prints in limited editions
so that all buyers may find something at their price range.
